On October 7, in Vilnius, the scientific community of lawyers was acquainted with a book written and published on the initiative of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries: “Notarial System of the Republic of Lithuania (1918-1940) and the Destiny of It: System, Community, Personalities.”
This scientific monograph was prepared by four scholars of the Faculty of History, Vilnius University: Norbertas Černiauskas, Kęstutis Kilinskas, Giedrė Polkaitė, and Marius Ėmužis.
“This book is our consistent step towards the perpetuation of professional memory of a notary,” says Marius Stračkaitis, President of the Lithuanian Chamber of Notaries and Notary of Klaipeda.
This well-illustrated scientific work comprises biographies of 45 notaries as of the interwar period which were gleaned from primary archival sources and analysed. The quantitative analysis of the collected data became the basis for compiling a collective biography of interwar Lithuanian notaries. It outlines the key demographic, political, economic, and social features of the profession of notaries.
The study presents not only quantitative summaries of the data collected, but also the detailed notarial biograms which will acquaint the reader with the twists and turns in life and career of notaries.
The book was published by PU Studio “Versus”. You can find the book in bookstores.
